GWS Educational Awards 2000 for SSC Toppers in Goa

 

Amrita Prasad Nevrekar and Sherwin Simon Godinho who ranked among  the first two top positions at the SSC examinations held in March 2000 by the Goa Board were the  proud  recipients  of the Kuwait's Goan Welfare Society (GWS) Educational Awards. The Awards carry a cash prize of Rs.5000/- (five thousand rupees each).

The Awards  distribution was held at Clube Tennis de Gaspar  Dias - Miramar, Goa  coinciding with India's Independence Day  and the Club's  '10 to 10' All-Day Picnic  Extravaganza  on Tuesday,  15th August 2000.

The GWS Awards distribution ceremony was co-ordinated by Anthony C. Figuerado, Benefactor  of G.W.S.  In his  short opening  speech, he emphasized  that  GWS proudly encourages  Goan  sons and daughters both in Goa and in Kuwait to maintain high standard in their studies and rewarding them for the excellent performances  annually.  He  thanked the GWS patron, Mr. Sam  Alphonso,  for  his  contributions towards meeting this much cherished goal of the Goan Welfare Society,  which was  had recently completed a decade of existance in Kuwait.

The  chief  guest  for the GWS  Awards  distribution ceremony  was the renowned Goan Ex-Chief Engineer of PWD  and  Chief Secretary  to Government of Goa, who is also the president elect of Club Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Mr. A.K. Jahagidar.

The GWS Educational Awards  are sponsored year after year since 1995 by GWS Patron member, Mr. & Mrs. Sam Alphonso,  for the two top  rankers at the SCC Exams (a boy and a girl).  The Managing  Committee and the members  of  the  Goan Welfare Society join hands in congratulating the top rankers and wishes them a bright future.
